FAQ
Do you offer both parts and labor warranties?
Yes! Under California’s SGIP Residential Solar & Storage Equity Program, eligible homeowners can get a solar + battery system completely free. You must own your home and meet SGIP income guidelines to qualify.
As a certified SGIP developer and top-rated solar + battery provider, Haven covers your system’s upfront expenses and later gets reimbursed by California. You pay nothing, skip the credit check, and avoid monthly payments.

What should I do to use my battery after installation?
With a solar and battery storage system, you can create and store electricity to use whenever needed. This helps cut down your electric bills by relying less on the utility company. Surplus electricity is saved in the battery to power your home at night or during costly peak hours.
- 1. Energy Savings: Homeowners with solar + battery systems can typically lower their electric bill by 90-95%. With rates increasing about 10% every year, those are guaranteed savings for your household.
- 2. Backup power: With a solar + battery system, homeowners can secure reliable power during an outage, running essential appliances for 1 to 2 days.
- 3. Lower CO2 emissions: Producing and storing electricity that comes from a renewable resource lowers your household emissions by about 22% a year.
What’s the process behind solar panels?
When energy is converted from DC to AC, it becomes usable in your home. Here’s what happens afterward:
The solar panels collect sunlight and produce direct current (DC) electricity. Since your home runs on alternating current (AC), the DC is converted using an inverter.
- 1. Distribution panel: AC power is delivered to your home's electrical panel, which sends electricity throughout your house to operate lights, appliances, and more.
- 2. Powering your home: The electrical current moves through your home’s wiring to run devices like refrigerators, televisions, and computers, similar to electricity from the grid.
- 3. Battery storage of surplus: If your solar system produces more power than your home uses, the leftover energy is stored in the battery to supply your home during costly peak hours, after dark, or during blackouts.
Why pair solar panels with a battery system?
Your battery system operates in the background, charging from solar panels (or from the grid). This stored energy provides bill savings and backup power without you having to do anything.
You can use your battery’s app to monitor and prioritize certain functions over others. Helping you decide how you want to use your energy is something we will go over when your system is installed:
You can choose how to optimize your system:
- Bill savings: The AC electricity is sent to your home’s electrical panel (also called a breaker box). This panel distributes the electricity to different parts of your home, powering lights, appliances, and other devices.
- Backup power: The electricity flows through the wiring in your home to power things like your refrigerator, TV, and computer—just like the electricity you get from the grid.
- Self-consumption: If your solar panels generate more electricity than your home needs, the extra energy can be stored in your battery to supply your home in the evening when rates are most expensive, at night when your panels are no longer producing, or during a power outage.
Is a free solar + battery system possible?
Starting from full installation, a 10-year workmanship warranty protects against defects not covered by the manufacturer. All related claims, support, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance services will be provided during this period at no cost.
- It is assured that your battery system will have at least 60% of its original capacity remaining at the 10-year mark.
- If improper installation causes your solar system to lose over 10% energy output, we offer a 20-year warranty.
- Your battery is guaranteed to hold at least 60% of its original capacity at the 10-year mark.
Additionally, if the installation requires us to make holes in your roof, we provide a warranty against water damage caused by those penetrations. This roof warranty will last for either 10 years after the system is installed or for the duration of any current roof warranty you have, whichever is longer. This warranty only covers water damage from the work we do and does not apply to any pre-existing issues with your roof.
